Audio books come in a variety of formats, including cassettes (does anyone even use those things anymore?), CD's, and more recently - mp3's.  The great thing about audio books in mp3 format is that they can be downloaded instantly - no waiting for a delivery like other formats require.  Additionally, you have such a wider variety of ways they can be played as opposed to cassettes or compact discs.  Personally, I want to download audio books and have them available on the spot.  My iPhone is full of audio books, and I can listen to them wherever I go.  If you prefer the digital format to a tangible format, check out iPodAudiobooks.net for a huge selection of iPod audio books, iPhone audio books or audiobooks for any mp3 player.  If you have a mp3 device, or listen to audio books at your computer, there is no need at all to get audio books in a non-digital format.
